I will lose a couple of pounds, then I will gain a couple of pounds. It is annoying. But, in all fairness I have not been doing what I should be doing so I guess I'm lucky it isn't more gaining.

I believe the juicing works, I just have to get back on board. I know that all the fruits and vegetables are good for me. I also need to start back on my elliptical. I just have no strength after my surgery. I have to build it back up.

Hope it is going well for those of you out there that made a New Year resolution to stay healthier.

I lost 20 lbs during my surgery and recovery. Then my husband decided he needed to lose some weight. We decided to juice so we bought a Nutri Bullet. We started on 12/30. I have lost 5 1/2 pounds since I started and a total of 31 lbs. to date. I wasn't sure I would like it but knew I had to do something to get the weight off because of my two cancer scares in 2013. It is actually very yummy.

Breakfast:

Vanilla yogurt
Almond Milk
Strawberries
Banana

Lunch:

I eat a regular lunch

Supper:

Raw Spinach
Banana
Blueberries
Orange
I am still experimenting. There are numerous recipes on the internet. I tried celery which I love; however, it has such a strong taste that it takes over.

To date I have lost 28 lbs. from where I started when I started this blog. Unfortunately, 20 lbs. of that is due to being on a liquid/soft diet after surgery. But I am now back to eating normal food. I just can't eat big bites or a lot. I do better eating several small meals throughout the day. I had a tumor removed from the roof of my mouth and now have to wear a retainer type device. This acts as the roof of my mouth and I need it to eat or talk.

I have been off work for 8 weeks and return to work Monday, 12/9 for half days through 1/6. I am glad the doctor said half days. I know I will be tired and need a nap.
Well, yesterday was weigh in day. I didn't do well all week on my food; however, I still lost. When I eat something I know I'm not supposed to have I try to balance. I know realistically you have to cheat once in awhile or you are never going to stay on the diet, right? When I cheat, I just cut back on the next meal and make sure I toe the line the next day. I am down about 22 lbs., but what is amazing is how the weight has redistributed. I have never lost 20 lbs and gone down 2 clothing sizes. Used to be that when I lost 20 lbs. I never went down one size in clothing.

Love it!

Diet is kind of all over the place. I've been sick and had a cough for 2 weeks so I finally broke down and went to Prompt Care yesterday. I have a sinus infection and fluid on the ear. So, I am on an antibiotic, cough pill and nasal spray. Don't feel like eating and when I do I want toast or something else that is comforting. That is not on the diet. Oh well, hopefully once the meds start to kick in I will feel like getting back on track.

Hope this finds you all well.

Well, today is Sunday. It is 6:15 p.m. and I have not eaten anything today. I have supper going. I have been sick with this cough that just keeps hanging on. I took Nyquil last night. I know how it affects me but I couldn't help it, I wanted to sleep. I slept the clock around and then some. So, now I'm sitting here waiting for supper to get done, hoping I don't pig out, but I'm really not hungry. Bu that could change. I promised my son Cole I would make twice baked potato casserole. Oh my goodness, heaven! Not on my diet but I figure I am saving some calories because I haven't eaten all day. I know I shouldn't and I know I'm making excuses. I am a big believer that diets don't work. I think they are a foundation to get started but let's face it folks, we are all going to cheat - we are human. It has to be a balancing act. When I am at work I follow it pretty closely, but on the weekends I'm going to eat a little. Then I know I'm going to stick to it. If you are constantly deprived pretty soon you are going to say the hell with it.
I weighed in yesterday and was so depressed. I gained 5 lbs. over the holidays. So instead of a 22 lb. loss I am back down to 18 lbs. I started crying I was so depressed. Joen, where I weigh in gave me a hug and said it's a new year, you just started coming in here. Just get back on course. I so appreciate her. And you know what, I did get back on course today and feel pretty good. I am going to get this weight off.

Please let me know if you are strugging as well. I would love to hear your story.

I am finally at the 20 pound mark - actually 22. I am down two sizes. It has been hard but worth it when people start noticing.

Merry Christmas everyone. Hopefully I can still maintain over the holidays.

I weighed in tonight and I lost 5.4 lbs. I was sure I was going to be the biggest loser for the week. Well, low and behold I wasn't. Someone beat me out. Next week she is going down. It is so hard trying to do what is right and then to lose that much weight in a week and not be the biggest loser, what is up with that?

The biggest loser contest is the unofficial weigh in for me. The real weigh in is on Friday afternoons with the Ideal Protein representative. I am officially down 9 lbs. in 9 days. Unbelievable! I am loving it. I actually got my engagement ring on my finger. I haven't worn it in over a year. I also got a pair of jeans on that I have not been able to wear. This program definitely works. However, I have to be honest, some days I think, if I have to force one more vegetable down my throat I am going to throw up. Of course I never do.

The key is the water. I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. By being on the program and drinking all that water it flushes all those fat cells out of my body. Every time I get to the point where I think I can't eat what is on my plate I just keep telling myself, you are losing a lb. a day. Keep up the good work. The first week I lost 6 lbs. Of course I don't expect to lose that much each week. If I keep status quo I should be down another 1-2 lbs. by tomorrow's weigh in for a total loss of 10-11 lbs. in two weeks.

The first few days I posted what I ate for the day. I will no longer bore you with that information; however, I did want those interested in the Ideal Protein program to know what to expect. From here on out I will tell you my highs and lows. I am sure there will be plenty of both.

If you are on this weight loss journey with me, let me know how you are doing. And, keep up the good work.

Glad this day is over. I am extremely tired. I understand that is normal and my energy level should improve.
Today was a little tough. I actually felt hunger pains and decided I don't like it. I have learned to break down my meals so that I am eating every 2-3 hours. That helps.

If you are making better choices for a healthier you leave me a note and tell me how you are doing.

Lunch:

Ideal Protein chicken noodle soup
Walden Farms bacon ranch dressing

Supper:

2 hard boiled eggs
1 1/2 c. broccoli tossed in olive oil and sea salt

I have to say I struggled today. Actually felt really hungry today for the first time. Joen tells me after week 2 I will no longer feel those hunger pains.

Then I went and weighed in at the Biggest Loser contest and was down 2 lbs. but really it is 4 1/4 pounds because when I weighed in at Ideal Protein last Friday I had gained back what I lost in the Biggest Loser contest. So I was feeling pretty good. Well, hell, I see the results of the weigh in and I'm not even in the top 10. Now I'm depressed.

Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03441365230234015710noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8883110125847817018.post-213594675835794852012-10-02T18:52:00.000-07:002012-10-02T18:56:48.017-07:00Today Was Rough

Today I woke up at 4:30 which is my normal time. What is hard is having to eat within a half an hour of getting up. This revs up the ole metabolism. Well, be that as it may, this girl is used to getting up and having coffee first.

Breakfast:

Orange mango shake

Snack:

Pomegranate snack bar (yum)

Lunch:

Vanilla shake
Iceberg lettuce and spinach salad
With Walden Farms sweet onion dressing
Celery

Supper:

Omelet with peppers and onions

The problem today was feeling sick to my stomach and diarrhea. I understand from talking to Joen that this is normal. My body is getting rid of all the toxins I have eaten before starting the program. l felt very tired which also is normal.

As I am typing this I do feel much better. Again it is hard to eat everything I am supposed to. However, it is important to do so because if I do not my body will go into starvation mode. So, what I have learned is that I need to break my meals up and eat something about every two hours.

I seriously think I can do this. Today I have been stuffed. Here is what I had:

Breakfast:

chocolate shake
coffee

Snack:

Strawberry creme protein bar

Lunch:

Chicken ala King soup with 4 oz. chicken added
1 cup raw broccoli dipped in bacon ranch dressing
1 cup cucumber and onions

Supper:

2 hard boiled eggs (4 oz.)
9 oz. steamed asparugus with 2 t. olive oil and sea salt.

My 8 glasses of water.

I really am supposed to have another cup of veges but I seriously cannot stuff another thing in my mouth.

I feel good. I know that the pounds are going to melt away.

Chrishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03441365230234015710noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8883110125847817018.post-7560480016741300002012-09-30T16:59:00.000-07:002012-09-30T17:16:39.383-07:00Ideal Protein

I decided to try Ideal Protein because I know two people that collectively have lost 160 lbs. I made an appointment to attend a free meeting where I got to hear about the program and try the food. Truthfully, some of the food was great and some was really bad, but hey, we have to sacrifice for results. What really sold me on the program was the fact that in all the after pictures no one had skin hanging down their arm or elsewhere. I asked about that and part of the program is a drink or a jello that keeps your skin from hanging - it keeps it elastic. Okay, that was it I was sold.

I made a one on one appointment to meet with the representative, Joen (pronounced Joan). She weighed me (OMG) and measured me. I didn't look at the measurements. I was too traumatized by the weigh in. This blog is going to be totally honest. The cost may be prohibitive for some but I'm desperate. I need to lose weight. The initial cost for me was around $260.00. This includes a week worth of food, a $50.00 one time processing fee and my vitamens, etc.

Joen calls the food astronaut food. It comes in silver packets and you add water and mix it. Today was my first day. Here is what I had:

Breakfast:

omelet - very filling

Lunch:

Broccoli cheese soup to which I added 1 cup of broccoli (it was very good)
1 cup of celery dipped in Walden Farms bacon ranch dressing (free food - no carbs or calories).

Snack:

1 Chocolate peanut snack bar - YUMMY!

Supper:

8 oz. protein - Chicken breast
1 cup of cabbage
1 cup of cucumber and onion

You drink 8 glasses of water a day and take your vitamens and supplements.

Quite honestly, it was hard for me to choke down all the food. I am stuffed.

One interesting tidbit - they don't want you to exercise. SAY WHAT? Yes, no exercise except walking and only if you want to. The premise is that they are cutting your carbs down to 30% therefore, anything that raises your heart rate can actually make you pass out because we are used to having lots of carb. Now we are pushing the protein. We are getting our energy from protein; however, our bodies must get used to that.

I will meet with Joen every Friday. I will keep you posted on the weight loss. Women are supposed to lose 3-5 lbs. a week. We'll see.
