Hit My First Goal

I am finally at the 20 pound mark - actually 22.  I am down two sizes.  It has been hard but worth it when people start noticing.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Hopefully I can still maintain over the holidays.

Oh Wow

I weighed in tonight and I lost 5.4 lbs.  I was sure I was going to be the biggest loser for the week.  Well, low and behold I wasn't.  Someone beat me out.  Next week she is going down.  It is so hard trying to do what is right and then to lose that much weight in a week and not be the biggest loser, what is up with that?

The biggest loser contest is the unofficial weigh in for me.  The real weigh in is on Friday afternoons with the Ideal Protein representative.  I am officially down 9 lbs. in 9 days.  Unbelievable!  I am loving it.  I actually got my engagement ring on my finger.  I haven't worn it in over a year.  I also got a pair of jeans on that I have not been able to wear.  This program definitely works.  However, I have to be honest, some days I think, if I have to force one more vegetable down my throat I am going to throw up.  Of course I never do.

The key is the water.  I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.  By being on the program and drinking all that water it flushes all those fat cells out of my body.  Every time I get to the point where I think I can't eat what is on my plate I just keep telling myself, you are losing a lb. a day.  Keep up the good work.  The first week I lost 6 lbs.  Of course I don't expect to lose that much each week.  If I keep status quo I should be down another 1-2 lbs. by tomorrow's weigh in for a total loss of 10-11 lbs. in two weeks.

The first few days I posted what I ate for the day.  I will no longer bore you with that information; however, I did want those interested in the Ideal Protein program to know what to expect. From here on out I will tell you my highs and lows.  I am sure there will be plenty of both.

If you are on this weight loss journey with me, let me know how you are doing.  And, keep up the good work.

One More Day Under My Belt

Glad this day is over.  I am extremely tired.  I understand that is normal and my energy level should improve.

Breakfast:

Cappuccino drink mixed with my coffee. Very yummy.

Snack:

Chocolate soy puffs

Lunch:

Tomato basil soup with chopped broccoli
1 cup cucumber and onions

Supper:

Omelet with chopped peppers and green tomato
1 cup of celery

Snack:

Butterscotch pudding

Today was a little tough.  I actually felt hunger pains and decided I don't like it.  I have learned to break down my meals so that I am eating every 2-3 hours.  That helps.

If you are making better choices for a healthier you leave me a note and tell me how you are doing.

Day 4

Breakfast:

Berry Yogurt shake

Snack:

Peanut Crunch Bar
Apple Cinammon soy puffs (YUM) - Extra snack is for my low blood sugar

Lunch:

Ideal Protein chicken noodle soup
salad with spinach and romain, cauliflower, mushrooms, onion and hard boiled egg
Walden Farms bacon ranch dressing

Supper:

2 hard boiled eggs
1 1/2 c. broccoli tossed in olive oil and sea salt

I have to say I struggled today.  Actually felt really hungry today for the first time. Joen tells me after week 2 I will no longer feel those hunger pains.

Then I went and weighed in at the Biggest Loser contest and was down 2 lbs. but really it is 4 1/4 pounds because when I weighed in at Ideal Protein last Friday I had gained back what I lost in the Biggest Loser contest.  So I was feeling pretty good.  Well, hell, I see the results of the weigh in and I'm not even in the top 10.  Now I'm depressed.

Today Was Rough

Today I woke up at 4:30 which is my normal time.  What is hard is having to eat within a half an hour of getting up. This revs up the ole metabolism.  Well, be that as it may, this girl is used to getting up and having coffee first.

Breakfast:

Orange mango shake

Snack:

Pomegranate snack bar (yum)

Lunch:

Vanilla shake
Iceberg lettuce and spinach salad
With Walden Farms sweet onion dressing
Celery

Supper:

Omelet with peppers and onions

The problem today was feeling sick to my stomach and diarrhea.  I understand from talking to Joen that this is normal.  My body is getting rid of all the toxins I have eaten before starting the program.  l felt very tired which also is normal.

As I am typing this I do feel much better.  Again it is hard to eat everything I am supposed to.  However, it is important to do so because if I do not my body will go into starvation mode.  So, what I have learned is that I need to break my meals up and eat something about every two hours.

Day 2

I seriously think I can do this.  Today I have been stuffed.  Here is what I had:

Breakfast:

chocolate shake
coffee

Snack:

Strawberry creme protein bar

Lunch:

Chicken ala King soup with 4 oz. chicken added
1 cup raw broccoli dipped in bacon ranch dressing
1 cup cucumber and onions

Supper:

2 hard boiled eggs (4 oz.)
9 oz. steamed asparugus with 2 t. olive oil and sea salt.

My 8 glasses of water.

I really am supposed to have another cup of veges but I seriously cannot stuff another thing in my mouth.

I feel good.  I know that the pounds are going to melt away.

Ideal Protein

I decided to try Ideal Protein because I know two people that collectively have lost 160 lbs.  I made an appointment to attend a free meeting where I got to hear about the program and try the food.  Truthfully, some of the food was great and some was really bad, but hey, we have to sacrifice for results.  What really sold me on the program was the fact that in all the after pictures no one had skin hanging down their arm or elsewhere.  I asked about that and part of the program is a drink or a jello that keeps your skin from hanging - it keeps it elastic.  Okay, that was it I was sold.

I made a one on one appointment to meet with the representative, Joen (pronounced Joan).  She weighed me (OMG) and measured me.  I didn't look at the measurements.  I was too traumatized by the weigh in.  This blog is going to be totally honest.  The cost may be prohibitive for some but I'm desperate.  I need to lose weight.  The initial cost for me was around $260.00.  This includes a week worth of food, a $50.00 one time processing fee and my vitamens, etc.

Joen calls the food astronaut food.  It comes in silver packets and you add water and mix it.  Today was my first day.  Here is what I had:

Breakfast:

omelet - very filling

Lunch:

Broccoli cheese soup to which I added 1 cup of broccoli (it was very good)
1 cup of celery dipped in Walden Farms bacon ranch dressing (free food - no carbs or calories).

Snack:

1 Chocolate peanut snack bar - YUMMY!

Supper:

8 oz. protein - Chicken breast
1 cup of cabbage
1 cup of cucumber and onion

You drink 8 glasses of water a day and take your vitamens and supplements.

Quite honestly, it was hard for me to choke down all the food.  I am stuffed.

One interesting tidbit - they don't want you to exercise.  SAY WHAT?  Yes, no exercise except walking and only if you want to.  The premise is that they are cutting your carbs down to 30% therefore, anything that raises your heart rate can actually make you pass out because we are used to having lots of carb.  Now we are pushing the protein.  We are getting our energy from protein; however, our bodies must get used to that.

I will meet with Joen every Friday.  I will keep you posted on the weight loss.  Women are supposed to lose 3-5 lbs. a week.  We'll see.
